Welcome
Welcome to the online home of Templum Fidelis Lodge No. 746, Canada's first Traditional Observance Lodge.
Two Fellowcrafts and a “Fellow” on “The Craft”
Our March meeting was an evening for Fellowcrafts. Brother Chris Mackey, after the past year of diligent study and preparation, proved himself in exemplary fashion and was passed by the Lodge to the Fellowcraft degree. Brother Phil Deveau presented a Fellowcraft paper after the degree and demonstrated both a superb study in ritual dissemination and in depth research on the parts of the degree he pulled from the ritual. For the three pieces of music played in Lodge, please check the TF music archives on the site.
After dining on a delicious meal and engaging in lengthy discussion on Brother Deveau’s paper, we were treated to our guest speaker’s presentation. Professor Matthew Reeve of Queen’s University enlightened us on the emergence of the ‘architect’ in medieval Europe as an individual separate from the working classes of tradesmen and masons. Dr. Reeve (Ph.D Cambridge University) whose specialty lies in Gothic art, architecture and philosophy has received numerous fellowships and awards throughout his academic career .
Had it not been for the Worshipful Master’s good manners as host, the Brethren would have continued to engage Dr. Reeve in questions until the wee hours of the morning. Several of the Brethren expressed interest in pursuing more information on Dr. Reeve’s studies and, while we attempt to cajole him back to Templum Fidelis at some later date, his presentation will be made available to members only on the password protected forum and will not be posted on the public site due to intellectual and publishing copyrights.
We thank all our visitors and Professor Reeve for joining us and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on June 15th for the initiation of a new Brother and more Masonic light and fraternal association.
